WebAug 17, 2014 · Continue by moving the sheave in, then out, until it is completely free. Loosen the pulley to it's widest position, then install the belt. Tighten the belt by turning the fan blade backwards; the friction of the belt will draw the sheave tighter. Tighten the set screw. In theory the 2096 should out pull the 986 but it won't the 986 is around 11,000 lbs. with out added weight the 2096 weighs just a little bit over that with add weight.
