WebThe mine started in 1878, and closed in 1927 after the shaft collapsed, although a newspaper article was found stating men were working underground in the mine during the 1929 Murchison earthquake. It has one of the deepest shafts on the Reefton field at 692 metres deep. The mine produced 203 785 ounces of gold according to the sign at the mine.
